Ultraviolet light disinfectionUltraviolet light kills microorganisms by exposing patient room surfaces to a device which emits short-wavelength ultraviolet radiation (UV-C) thus inactivating the DNA of the microorganisms. UV disinfection has a long history off use in air and water purification, sewage treatment protection of food and beverages, and many other disinfection and sterilization applications. A major advantage of UV treatment in water sources is the ability of disinfecting water faster than chlorine without retention tanks
